Before updating, back up your WHMCS files and database. Read the release notes and compatibility information. If you have customised templates, compare the changed files before replacing them.
Test the update on staging whenever possible. After updating production, clear any relevant WHMCS template cache and check key customer flows such as login, cart, checkout, tickets and invoice pages.
